Track & Field Teams Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic, Two Individuals HonoredThe Welseyan men’s and women’s track and field teams were honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for its cumulative grade point average of 3.60, while Ivie Uzamere ’21 and Grace Devanny ’23 earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field team as an individual, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and must have been accepted into the indoor national championship.
Summer Intern Series: Alex Brun '23Wesleyan athletics will honor several student-athletes who've undertaken internship roles at companies across the country over the course of the next few weeks. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, there are considerable challenges securing and performing internship roles with many companies moving to online and work-at-home environments for all employees. Today, we spotlight men's swimming & diving rising sophomore Alex Brun '23 who is working as a research analyst at Just Results, based out of the Washington D.C. area. Just Results is founded by Wesleyan alumnae Lara Goldmark '90.
Murphy and O’Halloran Named 2020 CSCAA Scholar All-AmericansWesleyan women’s swimming and diving graduated seniors Caroline Murphy ’20 and Hannah O’Halloran ’20 were both selected as 2020 Scholar All-Americans by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The CSCAA named 1,479 swimmers and divers to the Scholar All-American Team for the 2019-20 season. The award recognizes students who achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and were invited to compete at their respective national championship. Selections were drawn from 209 colleges and universities across the country.
The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) named the Wesleyan University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams to its Scholar All-America team for the Spring 2020 semester. Wesleyan was one of 461 schools to receive the award for the Spring semester. Teams were selected on the basis of their Spring grade point averages and represent 17,982 total student-athletes.
Wesleyan men’s hockey senior goalie Tim Sestak was honored with Academic All-American At-Large Third Team honors by CoSIDA, as announced by the committee on Wednesday afternoon. This marks the second straight season Sestak earns a Academic All-American Third Team distinction, as he joins Victoria Yu ’19 and Andrew Yin ’15 as the only Cardinals in school history to graduate with multi Academic All-American accolades.
Three members of Wesleyan women’s crew were recently recognized as 2020 Pocock All-America Nominees; Clara Babbot-Ward, Nicole Rizzutto (coxswain), and Hannah Xu.
